This Sunday May 4th will be tournament draw time for baseball and softball teams across the state. This season in the Northwest District something new will be tried called better seed host, where the top seed of a particular sectional will be able to play one or two games on their home field.

Rick Brindley who is the athletic director at Ashland High School and member of the Northwest District Athletic Board, says in the past having Mansfield Senior and Ashland, as an example, play their sectional games at a neutral site like Fremont never made much sense for two schools that are just 18 miles apart. It also will save area schools travel time and money. Once the sectional is over, then teams will play their district semifinals at a neutral site.
