Central Elementary School third grade student Madelyn Haring and her fellow classmates in Lexington enjoyed a pizza party after a drawing made by Madelyn won a contest sponsored by Richland County Children Services.

Third graders from throughout Richland County were given the opportunity to submit a drawing depicting a place where they felt safest with Madelyn's winning drawing to be placed on some special billboards around the county this month.

For her efforts, Madelyn also received a $25 gift certificate from Target, a calendar where her picture will be used during next school year and a stirring round of applause by her classmates for her pizza-prize-winning achievement.
