Sixteen of the best students in Crawford County were recognized for their efforts Wednesday evening, not because of impressive grade point averages or scholastic excellence, but rather for their outstanding levels of effort, responsibility and citizenship.

At the annual B.E.S.T. Awards, hosted by Colonel Crawford Schools, students also got to select an educator to be recognized that provided inspiration and encouragement throughout their young lives. One upper- classman and one under- classman from each of Crawford County's seven high schools were chosen to receive awards, along with a pair of seniors from Pioneer Career & Technology Center.

Students were nominated by teachers, coaches and administrators, based on outstanding work ethic, committing to responsibilities, being cooperative, working well on a team and being reliable and trustworthy.

The Crawford County Business/Education Advisory Council puts on the event every year, presenting the awards to students and educators.
