Local residents are being warned to beware of false fundraisers claiming association with the Mansfield Police Department.

Chief Ken Coontz said the police department is not holding any fundraisers at this time. He said department will not contact individuals at their residence via telephone or in person reference to a fundraiser.

The Fraternal Order of Police conducts two fundraisers during the year.

The winter fundraiser begins at the end of January until March 1. This fundraiser supports D.A.R.E., Safety Town and kids summer athletics. The "Cops and Kids Fundraiser" will begin in the end of July and will run through August.

If you have concerns about the validity of a police fundraiser contact the police department at 419-522-1234.
