On Friday the final vote total will be known on the fourth go around for competative balance by the OHSAA. This time around it's a numbers game so- to-speak, depending on when a student/athlete enrolls in a certain school system will depend on wether a school's numbers remain the same or go up.

The proposal only involves team sports such as football, volleyball, basketball, soccer, baseball and softball. Rick Brindley who is the athletic director at Ashland High School says there are three factors that weigh in that center around when a student/athlete is enrolled at school. If the numbers for a certain school go up they may wind up in a higher division, but they would only move up one division.

The competative balance proposal in one form or another has been up for a vote by member schools of the OHSAA three times and all three times it has failed. If the issue should pass, complete rosters of the above mentioned sports would have to be submitted to the OHSAA stating when the athlete enrolled in the school district.
