Ashland City Schools are reflecting a positive ending balance in all five projected years in the latest forecast.

The projection was revealed to the school board by treasurer Gina Deppert, who says tough decisions to cut staff have attributed to most of the savings. Deppert says the district will continue to monitor their health care plan and rising cost of utilities, but believes Ashland schools are in a good place financially.

The district is also in the process of building a new middle school and elementary which are scheduled to be in use for the 2015-'16 school year. Ashland Superintendent Doug Marrah says construction crews are ready to start setting footers for the middle school and that block should start going up next week. Marrah says construction is "in a great place" and that he is excited for progress to be visible to the public.
