Excessive Testing, Curriculum A Concern At Ontario

With the school year winding down at Ontario Local Schools, curriculum for next year is already going into place. Concerned citizens however, do not favor the districts adoption of the common core state standards initiative.

A pair of Ontario residents shared their displeasure for common core with board members at Tuesday's regularly scheduled Board of Education meeting, citing different reasons for their concern.

The board would also receive next years testing schedule as outlined by the Ohio Board of Education, which includes additional testing to the districts already demanding test agenda.

Board President Mary Bennett says she feels "so badly for the students" who are already tested plenty. Bennett believes "the idea behind it sounds logical, but the implementation is not."
