The Madison baseball team played error free in the field and got another good pitching performance from sophomore Michael Penny, who threw a one hitter with 11 strike outs as the Rams beat the Mansfield Tygers 8-0 to win the Division I sectional.

The only hit came off the bat of Tyger left fielder Collin Henley when he singled in the top of the sixth inning. At the plate, the Rams collected 11 hits scoring two runs in the bottom of the first, one on an error in the third, three in the fifth and two more in the sixth. Madison's Kyle Galco, Alec Gowitzka, Zane Harris, Alec Keen, Hunter Akerman, Bo Curvin, Blake Lampert and Josh Smith all had hits.

The Tygers Curtis French went the distance taking the loss with two strike outs and no walks. With the win the Rams improve to 19-5 overall and advance to play Bowling Green at Carter Park in BG on Thursday at 4:15pm in the D-1 district semifinal. The Bobcats downed Findlay 3-1 in their sectional final. The second game played on Thursday at 7:15 at Carter Park will feature Fremont Ross, who was a 3-1 winner over Ashland, against Anthony Wayne.
