The Free Masons of Mansfield planned to hold their 200 year celebration Wednesday evening at the historic Mansfield Blockhouse, but postponed due to the rainy forecast. The fraternal organization did however, pay homage to the past by holding a meeting of master Masons at the blockhouse.

The Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Ohio granted a dispensation to Master Masons of Mansfield to conduct work back in 1814. These Masons were later granted a charter in 1818 to form Mansfield's first Masonic Lodge No. 35. Today, there are two Masonic Lodges in Mansfield, Lodge 35 and Venus Lodge 152, with a combined membership of more than 800.

The Mansfield Free Masons 200 year celebration, which will include a flag raising ceremony by local Boy Scout troop 121, has been rescheduled for June 4.
