The Ontario baseball team saw their season end on Saturday at Madison with an 11-1 loss to the Sandusky Perkins Pirates in the Division II district final. The game looked as though it was going to be close all afternoon long through the first three innings. The Pirates got on the board first in the bottom of the first taking a 1-0 lead, but the Warriors came back to even the score in the top of the third when Paul Homan doubled, then stole third and after Tyler Gorbett walked, Homan came home after Gorbett fell between first and second, it would turn out to be Ontario's only run.

Things would go sour for the Warriors in the bottom of the fourth giving up three runs, the same happened in the fifth, four more were given up in the sixth as Ontario's defense, which had been a strength all season long came apart as the Pirates kept the pressure on at the plate with the Warriors committing three errors in that span.

Ontario pitcher Mason Goodwin started and gave up four runs, two earned with four hits in three and a half innings. Paul Homan pitched two innings giving up seven runs, four earned with two strike outs. Goodwin and Homan both combined to hit four Pirates at the plate.

The loss ends Ontario's season at 19-4 with an NOL and sectional championship. Over the last three seasons the team has an overall record of 71-9, with back-to-back NCC titles in 2012 and '13, one district title won last season vs Wynford, and one district runner-up finish. Included in that time frame an A.P.Poll championship in Division III in 2012.

Ontario's Tyler Gorbett, Kyle Pasheilich, Brad Dretzka and Tyler Boatwright played their final game in an Ontario uniform Saturday. The Perkins Pirates now at 24-4 move on to the Division II regional semifinal Thursday in Tiffin against Keystone.
