In light of recent budget cuts, Mansfield City Schools now considering outsourcing its custodians. Mansfield City Schools, like many around the country, is dealing with a fiscal emergency.

The district's financial status has not improved, and now they're considering outsourcing as an option for custodial work.

Jen Lepard, MSEA Union President attended Mansfield City School's Financial Planning meeting Wednesday afternoon along with more than two dozen supporters. They wore shirts which read "Keep Calm and Save Our Custodians".

The board decided against voting on this issue during Wednesday's meeting. Superintendent Brian Garverick explained how difficult these choices are. "This is not easy. These are real people and real jobs...But Ohio revised code states we have to look as far away from the classroom as possible, regarding the deficit".

The issue will be voted on at next month's meeting. If the vote passes, more than 30 custodians could lose their jobs, in an effort to reduce the schools deficit.
