Saying when he first started he wasn't very good at all, things have come a long way for Clear Fork pole vaulter Wyatt Tilton. Last Friday, Tilton punched his ticket to state competition this Friday in Columbus with a vault of 14'3" which was good enough for the top four.

His coach Jeff Layne says he would not be surprised at all if Wyatt makes the podium Friday saying competition brings out the best in his vaulter. For his part. Tilton feels he is capable of a 15' vault saying he may use a heavier pole to get to that height. The prelims and finals will be held at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium Friday at 9:30am.
