The new director of the Richland County United Way starts June 16th, but was in Mansfield Thursday as he gets acclimated to the job and starts house hunting. Dan Varn, who turned 34 Wednesday, is moving here from Strongsville. He has spent the last eleven years working for the Boy Scouts of America, and says he was attracted to the United Way to help a larger number of people and because it's a great local chapter. Varn wants the United Way of Richland County to meet or exceed its campaign goal each year, and reach $2-million within the next few years. Dan Varn also hopes to add to the number of agencies the United Way serves as contributions grow each year, and with his Boy Scout experience, to add some special campaign events to the "Day of Caring", "Dash to the Goal", and others.
