Tiger 4x100 Leads The Way For Area Track Athletes At State

Several Division II runners shined at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium on Saturday at the state track meet led by the Galion girls 4x100 meter relay team of Laura McElligott, Michaela Slone, Sydney Hunt and Clair Erlsten winning a state title in 48.71, edging out the 48.79 run by runner-up Ursuline.

In the D-2 high jump, Cody Stine of Shelby finished third with a jump of 6'7". Brittany Parcell of Bucyrus finished as All-Ohio in three different events taking 8th in the 100 meters in 12.73, 8th in the 200 at 25.8 and 5th in the long jump at 17'3.75".

In the D-2 boys 110 meter hurdles and 300 meter hurdles Ontario's Lenell Shelby finished 8th and seventh in 14.92 and 39.1. Teammate Cameron Mack made the podium for the second straight season in the 200 meters finishing in 8th place in 22.73.

In the D-2 girls 1,600 meters Lexington's Dominique Clairmonte finished 4th with a sub five minute time of 4:55.3. Clairmonte's teammate senior Lillian Freundlich finshed her high school running career with an 8th place finish in the girls 3,200 meters in 11:31.8, while in the boys Division II 3,200 Lexington's Nick Stricklen finished in third in 9:42.4, Ontario's Brett Cortelletti was 4th in 9:43.6.
