The 5th annual Kingwood Center 5K Race saw great success for the garden center, bringing in proceeds for Kingwood though hundreds of racers.

"It brings out the community to see Kingwood and the beauty that we have here," said Doug Heestand, race director. "It's an opportunity to give back to Kingwood."

Racers had a great time on the run, content with the sunny weather the morning provided.

"It was a great race, great weather, great course," said Joel Fox, one of the 5K participants. "This is one of my favorite races of the year."

Joe Mulherin, another participant, shared his thoughts.

"I finished it, so I guess that's about all I wanted to do," said Mulherin. "It was pretty good. The weather was perfect. I'll be back next year for sure."

All proceeds from the race went to Kingwood Center.
