North Stops South In All-Star Football

Despite a strong second half comeback, the North was able to hang on and beat the South 24-20 in the 29th annual North Central Ohio Football Coaches Association All-Star Game played at Lexington on Saturday evening.

The North All-Stars would score the first 17 points of the game beginning with a 32 yard field goal by Zach Giles at the 5:04 mark of the first period to grab a 3-0 lead. In the second quarter the North would put up the games first touchdown with 8:23 remaining when quaterback Lukas Ousley found Colton Webb with a 15 yard scoring pass that made it 10-0 after the point after. The North would score again just before the half when quarterback Tylor Pritchard found Max Stringer with a 19 yard scoring pass that pushed the lead to 17-0 at the break.

The South would get on the board in the third quarter when quarterback Tyler Boatwright hooked up with Alex Armistad on a 60 yard catch and run for six which cut the North lead to 17-7 after the conversion. But the North would come right back with a touchdown with 1:23 remaining in the third quarter when Pritchard ran the ball in from a yard out. The point after was good and it was 24-7 North.

But the South squad would cut the lead to 24-14 with 3:11 remaining in the game when quarterback Jalen Reese found Cameron Mack for a five yard touchdown pass. The South would score the games final touchdown with 2:43 remaining when QB Nate Klingenberger found Josh Plieninger for a 44 yard touchdown, the point after was missed putting the score at 24-20, which would wind up being the final score.

Eight awards were given out after the game. Offensive MVP: Tylor Pritchard North QB (Upper Sandusky). Defensive MVP: Travon Harris (Mansfield Senior). Outstanding Offensive Back: Max Stringer (Ashland). Outstanding Offensive Lineman: Kendall Kuhn (Lexington). Outstanding Defensive Back: Jordan Johnson (Norwalk). outstanding Defensive Lineman: Ty Green (Ashland). Outstanding Special Teams Player: Zach Giles (Crestview). Chris Spielman Award: Nick Adams (Colonel Crawford).
