The Iraqi Air Force strikes back, as Isis continues to spread its control. Militants took over more Iraqi villages and cities over the weekend, posting grisly photos online to brag about the mass executions of Iraqi security forces. The country's prime minister vows to liberate every inch of Iraq. These chilling photos posted on Jihadist Internet forums appear to show the mass execution of what are said to be Iraqi security forces, although CNN cannot independently confirm their authenticity. An Al Qaeda splinter group known as Isis is trying to establish an Islamist state, straddling the border between Iraq and Syria. Isis militants took control of Tal Afar on Sunday, they took control of Iraq's second-largest city, Mosul, last week. Prime Minister Nuri Al-Malaki says "Mosul didn't fall," accusing politicians of conspiring against their homeland. "We will march on every inch with all our weapons and all our will and faith," he said in a speech televised on Sunday. "So we can liberate and cleanse every inch of Iraq." The government has struck back with air raids on militant targets. State TV reported, Monday morning, the Iraqi Air Force had killed more than 200 militants in such strikes northwest of Falluja. Some Iraqi soldiers have refused to fight, abandoning this outpost near Kirkuk before militants arrived. Kurdish fighters have since retaken control, trying to hold their position against Isis. Volunteers have also taken to the streets to denounce sectarian violence, vowing to protect themselves and their cities from the militants. The already heavily-fortified U.S. Embassy in Baghdad has beefed up security with the arrival of between 50 and 100 Army and Marines personnel. Senior U.S. officials say the Obama Administration is also considering direct talks with Iran over their deteriorating situation in neighboring Iraq.
