A safer, smarter curriculum coming to a local school system this fall.

Lucas Board of Education members met Tuesday evening to vote on and approve several items. Board members fully support of the purchase of 250  chromebooks to be used by Lucas Elementary students. The decision to implement these into the curriculum stems from a need to enhance the student learning experience.

Students can also look forward to a safer campus when they return this fall. The board approved the purchase and installation of security cameras which will be placed at main entrances, hallways, cafeterias and other common areas. The cost of this project is a little more than $36,000, which will be paid out of the school's permanent improvement fund.
