Worthington Township Trustee Convicted Of Theft In Office

Worthington Township Trustee Clark Swank is found guilty of two counts of Theft in Office. The 64-year-old stood trial last week before Richland County Common Pleas Judge James DeWeese, accused of stealing $4000 worth of diesel fuel from the township for use in his personal vehicle. Swank claimed he and another trustee had an agreement this was allowed, although it was not formally approved during a public trustees' meeting. The verdict was issued Monday by Judge DeWeese, who heard the case without a jury. Swank will be sentenced July 14th on only one of the 5th degree felony counts. He could receive a prison term of six to twelve months and a maximum $2500 fine. But he's most likely to receive probation, be ordered to make restitution, and pay a fine.
