Local Teens Helping Those in Need

A few of our local communities are experiencing remarkable transformations, thanks to volunteers from across the country. Last Sunday a group of 335 teen and adult volunteers arrived in our area with one mission, to help those in need.

They come from church youth groups around the US and are part of TeenServe, a national mission organization aimed at helping those in need. Heather and Chris Braun of Lifepoint Community Church in Plymouth heard about the program and knew they had to get involved.

Crews of five teens and one adult will be scattered throughout Richland, Huron and Crawford counties to work on 57 homes this week. The majority of the work will be exterior painting and wheelchair ramp building.

There is absolutely no cost to the homeowners. Money for paint and materials was raised by the church and local donors. The application process included interviews and was based on financial as well as emotional needs.. After a long day of work, Teenserve campers return to their "home base" at Plymouth HighSchool to eat dinner, relax, unwind and reflect on their day.
