The NCSC Foundation has a new interim director. Betty Preston, vice president for Institutional Advancement at North Central State College will serve in the position. Preston replaces former NCSC executive director Carol Carbary.

North Central State President, Dorey Diab, said a new organizational alignment to an advancement model at the institution has been created to more closely connect the activities of the foundation, grants, marketing, government relations and public relations efforts in support of increasingly complex coordination of advancement activities including grants, gifts and community engagement.

"Recently NC State has been awarded numerous multi-million dollar federal and state grants for specific projects including the addition of upgraded robotics in advanced manufacturing, 3-D printers and funding to support job skill training and entrepreneurship," Diab said.

"These awards, in combination with the Powering the Journey capital campaign, and in partnership with many community leaders, are evidence of the College’s commitment to transforming north central Ohio into a more vital and vibrant community with higher educational attainment, a higher standard of living and a better quality of life for all residents," Diab said.

Preston will serve as the leader of the new organizational model, and as interim director of the NC State College Foundation.

Preston began her career at NCSC in 1989. She facilitated the creation of a comprehensive resource development plan for North Central State College including the chartering of the North Central State College Foundation and establishment of a grants office.

Preston has been involved in the development of fundraising plans and special events for several non-profit organizations. In 1990, she initiated the annual Rock-n- Ribs event and in 1994 and 2001 facilitated capital campaigns resulting in several endowments, including scholarship funds, and the acquisition and renovation of an advanced learning center; The James W. Kehoe Center of North Central State College.

Preston founded the North Central Ohio Entrepreneurial Hall of Fame in 2002 which is housed at the Kehoe Center.

Preston holds a B.A. from Colorado State University and an M.B.A. from Franklin University. She is a member and past presenter for the National Council for Resource Development; member of the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations; member and past president of the Mansfield Rotary Club; past chairman and treasurer and current trustee of Richland Performing Arts; has served on numerous boards including member of The Richland County Foundation Trustees; member Board of Directors of Rehabilitation Services of North Central Ohio; member Board of Directors Mansfield Area Y; and is currently a director of the Richland Performing Arts, Mansfield Richland Area Chamber of Commerce; and Kingwood Center.

She served as a major gifts officer for the 2013 But for Ohio State Mansfield campaign. Preston was recognized with the Athena Leadership Award for 2011.
