The Mini Cooper was the feature marque of the 2014 Vintage Grand Prix of Mid- Ohio. Two local owners of the classic were at Mid-Ohio this weekend to show and race their classics.

Jack Baumgardner of Mansfield, Ohio was on hand as Grand Marshall having raced 39 years at Mid-Ohio saying when you race the Mini Cooper you have to make your time in the turns. Baumgardner says the Cooper can hit speeds of 107 to 112 mph down the straight away on the track.

Jim Zerkel formerly of Lexington, bought his Cooper from Baumgardner under the condition that he not change the roof of the car with it's checker flag layout. The Cooper wasn't the only classic this weekend at Mid- Ohio. Chip Vance was racing a 1987 Lola Sports 2000. Vance says he loves coming to the road course but says he's been coming to the track since 1984 and it is the toughest track there is saying he is always learning something new every time he comes.
