The Mansfield Christian Flames boys soccer team has a new coach, their third in the last three years in 2007 MCS grad Steve Armstrong who was the team's JV coach under Jesse Rider last year. While those not familar with the program may think three coaches in three years is not a good thing, the Flames are considered one of the best small school teams around.

Armstrong said he would like to change a few things he saw last year, but for the most part wants to maintain the programs success. Since 2011, Mansfield Christian has advanced to state twice getting to the final four in 2011 and to the state final in 2013 finishing as runner-up to Cincinnati Summit Country Day in a 2-1 loss.

The Flames may be in a bit of a reloading mode having lost seven seniors off last year's 23-2 squad but return ten letter winners from a season ago. According to their schedule at OHSAA.com, the Flames will open the season on the road against rival Mansfield St.Peter's on August 26th.
