The 179th Airlift Wing dedicated one of the C-130 Hercules aircraft to the city of Mansfield during this year's Mansfield Lahm Airport Day celebration. Wing Commander Colonel Gary McCue presented a special memorial plaque of the C-130-H dedication ceremony to the city of Mansfield and Mayor Tim Theaker in gratitude for all of the support it provides the local unit. The Airlift Wing designated the aircraft as the "Spirit of Mansfield." The title “Spirit of Mansfield” is painted over the aircrew door, underneath the title is an Air Force Outstanding Unit ribbon the 179th has been awarded on numerous occasions. Ohio 7th District Republican U.S. Congressman Bob Gibbs was among those at the ceremony to deliver remarks.
