The 1,700 square-foot Schroer Building in downtown Mansfield has been resurrected into a trendy new hot spot.

The Phoenix Brewing Company has transformed the former mortuary into a showplace with its exposed brick and rustic wooden bar. The new business held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday afternoon, with Bob Schroer, great-great- grandson of the Charles Schroer who built the Schroer Building in 1914, cutting the ribbon.

The brewing company even released a new beer called "Schroer Pilsner" in dedication to the family. Many area residents enjoyed the new patio setup at the company's location off Temple Court during the ribbon-cutting ceremony, savoring the array of hand-crafted beers Phoenix Brewing has to offer.

Owners Steve Zigmund and Josh Beard reveal their intention for the brewery is to be a nice addition to the downtown Mansfield area.
