A new CNN/ORC Poll found 57-percent of Americans think the Israeli offensive in Gaza is justified. But 39-percent feel Israel is using too much force in Gaza, 12-percent sat too little force is being used, and 43-percent feel the Israeli action is about right. A member of the Palestinian Parliament and founder of the Palestinian National Initiative gave his take on CNN's "The Situation Room." He says Americans are being misled by the media. " The truth is that the Israeli government is acting in a criminal way against its own people, against the Israeli soldiers who are killed and against the Palestinian population," says Mustafa Barghouti, Founder of the Palestinian National Initiative. "What happened in Gaza during the last 10 days is nothing but a massacre. Five-hundred-fifty Palestinians have been killed so far. One-hundred-fifty of them are children. And we are now losing Palestinians mostly civilians at a rate of 100 per day. This has to stop." Israel's intelligence minister also appeared on the show. He said Israel has a right and duty to defend itself. He said they hope to avoid it, but they will reoccupy Gaza if Hamas forces them to, if Hamas does not stop launching rockets into Israel day in, and day out.
