Thompson Takes 4th Tri-County Women's Golf Title

For the 4th time in the last 5 years, Mansfield resident Rachel Thompson blew away the field at the 2-day Tri-County Women's Golf Championship.

The Ashland High School star spent the last four years perfecting her game at Marshall University and says the plan is to make a living playing the game she loves. After firing an unbelievable 7-under 67 Friday afternoon at Shelby Country Club, playing partners Tammy Hammett and Cindy Heidlebaugh believe there's a good possibility that Thompson can make it at the next level.

Thompson posted a 2-day total of 140 (73, 67), dusting the field by an amazing 25- strokes. Heidlebaugh finished second in the championship flight with a 165 (78, 87), while Hammett placed third with a score of 168 (79, 89).

Katie Rocsh was the winner in the 1st flight with a 172 (79, 93).

Mary Miller won the 2nd flight by posting a 200 (94, 106).
