The Mansfield Rotary and Kiwanis Clubs are launching a book drive to benefit the United Way of Richland County's Big Red Bookshelf.

The two clubs met together Tuesday to announce their plans to collect donated books, mainly for children up to age three. The clubs say children learning to read at a young age has a major impact on their lifelong learning and literacy, and their ability to get good jobs when they're adults.

The Big Red Bookshelf program has distributed six-thousand books over the past year-and- a-half.
