"Building the Block" is the name of a block party Saturday at North Lake Park in Mansfield.

The party is hosted by the police department and North End Community Improvement Collaborative, and is geared toward the West Fourth Street and Rowland Avenue neighborhood.

This is an area where residents are trying to overcome crime and blight, and build a positive relationship with the police. The block party will offer food, fun, and information.

It's at North Lake Park this Saturday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Funding for it is provided by the partnership between the Mansfield Police and the Northern Ohio Violent Crimes Consortium, which are working to reduce violent crime.
