The school year is inching closer, but summer Math camp is in full swing for Lucas Elementary students. Students in grades first through fifth enjoyed a week of fun and games, with Math as the underlying theme.

Principal Kari Case says students are learning at their own pace and building their own ways of thinking about math. The goal is to give students a "real world understanding of math" instead of tossing numbers at them.

Teachers hope to incorporate these techniques even more in their classrooms..and students seem to love it.

A similar Math Camp was showcased at Mansfield City Schools two weeks ago and is made possible by a partnership/grant with OSU- Mansfield.
