Mansfield Police Department hosted a block party at North Lake Park in conjunction with several local community agencies. CACY, NECIC and several others helped with the summer fun as officers worked to engage the community to help identify problems and issues that need addressed.

Chief Ken Coontz stated, "The North Lake Park area in general has seen a decline, crime has increased in the area. NECIC has done a great job in trying to identify problems that are contributing to the decay, and they've done a great job trying to rejuvenate this area. So we're going to partner with them and try to make a positive impact within the community."

Activities included a bounce house for children, a fingerprinting station, face painting, and some of the police and fire department vehicles were on display for the community to see and learn about. The block party also included this year's annual Hooked on Fishing activity, a program that encourages kids to take up hobbies instead of getting involved in drugs or alcohol.
