Southern Ashland County Village Of Loudonville Fetes 200th

The village of Loudonville in southern Ashland County capped off its five-day bicentennial celebration with a parade which stepped off on Main Street. Parade organizer Shirley Reeder says at a organizational meeting held in January, she had hoped 35 parade entries would be realized. She says she was impressed to have more than 100 parade units to celebrate Loudonville's 200th birthday. Reeder says she had tremendous cooperation from people in helping to put the parade together. Following the parade, the opening of the 1964 Sesquicentennial time capsule was held with the burying of the 200th anniversary time capsule with donated mementos. Loudonville is the first of at least three bicentennials to be celebrated in Ashland County in the near future. Celebrations are scheduled in both Ashland and Perrysville in 2015.
