Mansfield Schools are trying something new, to prepare kindergarten students for their first experience of going to school. The first Kindergarten Readiness Camp is being held this week at the Springmill Learning Center, attended by 85 children. The goal is to make the five and six-year-olds more comfortable. The camp includes six activities, teaching such things as how to properly use a pencil and scissors, some early math and reading, and how to walk through the hallways, with the children rotating from one classroom to another. Mansfield Schools' Kindergarten Readiness Camp is three hours a day, each day this week. School starts August 27th.
