Improvements within our community were discussed at a citizen action meeting, hosted by the North End Community Improvement Collaborative Wednesday afternoon. Guest speaker, Chief Ken Coontz of the Mansfield Police Department discussed a new project which will focus on improving conditions in the Roland and Fourth Street Neighborhood.

"Building the Block" is the name of the initiative, and Chief Coontz says it wouldn't be possible without the NECIC. In addition to focusing on ways they can build the community back up, police want to concentrate on improving community relationships.

The Police Department received funding for this project and were given the choice where to invest these resources. They chose the North Lake Park Area, because they felt the neighborhood would benefit the most.
