The legislative process comes to Mansfield, as an Ohio House panel discusses how to eliminate the debt in the unemployment compensation fund. The study committee includes thirteen state representatives from across the state. It was formed to find a way to pay off the $1.4-billion debt that's hurting businesses by increasing their unemployment benefit taxes. The committee is meeting in five cities around Ohio. This one was held at one of Mansfield's largest businesses, Gorman Rupp, at the suggestion of State Representative Mark Romanchuk. The panel hopes to introduce a bill to the entire legislature, to solve the unemployment compensation debt problem.
