With football season starting up this Friday, WMFD TV will be covering five games with highlights of three on Scores and More and two rebroadcast on Friday and Saturday. The Shelby Whippets will try to end a three year losing streak when they host the Madison Rams on Friday night at Skiles Field. The Rams were not kind to the Whippets last season winning at Ram Field 54-6. WMFD will rebroadcast the game at midnight on Friday and Saturday at 5pm. Both teams had rough years last season with Shelby going 1-9, Madison 3-7.

Ontario heads to Lexington to take on the Minutemen in the annual opener for both teams. The Warriors will have a lot of new faces while the Minutemen have a new coach. Last year's contest was a thriller with Ontario winning 44-43. WMFD will rebroadcast the game on Saturday at 8:30am and 7:30pm. Ontario is coming off a 5-5 season, Lexington was 1-9.

Scores and more will be at three other games, with Galion heading into a new league in the MOAC, they'll open their season at home against longtime rival Bucyrus a team they beat on the road last year 42-0 in route to a 9-2 season, while the Redmen finished at 5-5.

Speaking of rivalries, Fredericktown heads to Bellville to take on the Clear Fork Colts. Clear Fork won this opener last year on the road beating the Freddies 47-40. Clear Fork finished at 7-3 and a win short of the playoffs while Fredericktown went 6-4.

And, Ashland looks to end a three year opening game losing streak to Wadsworth when they host the Grizzlies on Friday at Community Stadium in Ashland. Wadsworth has won their opener against the Arrows by scores of 45-16, 35-28 and a season ago 35-7. Wadsworth went 9-2 last year, Ashland 7-3 and like Clear Fork was a win short of the post season.

WMFD will also have a complete score board with scores from around the area at 11:30pm with Scores and More.
