A couple charged with the illegal manufacturing of methamphetamine and the kidnapping of a 2-year-old boy have been indicted by the Richland County Grand Jury.

Charles Ledbetter, 25, and his grilfriend, Deana Hebert,24, were also indicted on charges of endangering children and having weapons under disability.

On June 7 authorities responded to a domestic disturbance in the 300 block of Boston Avenue. Police found chemicals used to manufacture meth. At the scene police say a text message was sent that appeared to be a ransom involving the child.

The boy's mother told police Ledbetter and Hebert asked to take her son out to breakfast.

Authorities went to a Koogle Road apartment complex searching for the suspects.  The child was found unharmed inside the apartment.

On June 8 the couple was arrested after police responded to a shoplifting complaint at Walmart on Possum Run Road.

Ledbetter led police on a high-speed chase that ended in the 200 block of West Cook Road.
