Shelby Faces Madison On Friday

On Friday night the Shelby Whippets will look to stop a three year skid to Madison at Skiles Field in the season opener for both teams. The Whippets last win over their cross county rivals came in 2010 40-20 at Skiles Field. Since then, Madison has won by scores of 21-7, 31-6 and last season 54-6.

For coach Erik Will's squad to come out on top top he the Whippets must control the line of scrimmage and take away Madison's running game. While the Rams will be starting a senior at quarterback in 6'1" 170lb. Austin Finley, Shelby will go with youth in 6'0" 168lb. freshman Brennan Armstrong who will be making his first varsity start.

Madison will start nine seniors on offense, eight on defense, while Shelby will start five on offense, three on defense. WMFD will play the game back at midnight Friday and 5pm on Saturday.
