An early morning accident on Interstate 71 northbound has sent two to the hospital.

The accident occurred at 5:15 a.m. Initial reports have said a commercial vehicle driver reported brake problems and pulled off the interstate to inspect the brake system.

The driver then climbed under the semi to inspect when a second semi crashed into the rear of the first semi trapping the driver under the wreckage.

The State Highway Patrol says both drivers were injured and transported to Ohio Health MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. The names of the drivers have not been released at this time.

Currently Interstate 71 northbound has been reduced to one lane near the 162 mile marker between Ohio 97 and the Morrow County line.
