A big financial windfall comes to North Central State College's Kehoe Center in Shelby.

The Ohio Board of Regents has awarded the center a $1.5- million grant, to cover half the cost of renovations to the heating and cooling systems, the elevator motors, and the fire suppression system.

These systems are original to the Kehoe Center, which was built in the mid-1970's as the headquarters of Shelby Insurance.

The plan is to have the boilers replaced in time for winter, and the coolers replaced by next summer. This grant will also allow the Kehoe Center to expand its ability to offer mobile manufacting training, which now serves 300 companies each year and 2,800 students.
