Employees of Tractor Supply Company in Ontario got an unexpected break from work Friday afternoon. They were forced to evacuate the building, at 2727 West Fourth Street, due to a natural gas leak. Someone had chained a red trailer to the gas line on the building, to prevent it from being stolen overnight. Then someone tried to pull it away with a truck, but forgot to remove the chain. Firefighters checked to store for the smell of gas when they arrived at 12:15, and found nothing. Columbia Gas checked again, and the all-clear was given, allowing the staff to return after an hour.
