The Clyde Fliers used good pitching and good defense to stop Lady Lex in the Division II softball district semifinal at Buckeye Central Thursday by a final score of 3-0. Fliers pitcher Chelsea Zerman struck out eight Lexington batters not allowing a runner past second base the entire game while giving up only four hits.

At the plate, Clyde was able to scratch out three runs on eight hits against All-Ohio pitcher Abbey Sgro scoring one run in the second, another in the third and one in the fifth. The 3-0 win by 20-7 Clyde over 15-14 Lexington sets up a rematch with 22-7 Clear Fork in the D-2 district final back at Buckeye Central Friday at 5pm. The Fliers knocked the Colts out of the tournament last season winning 7-5 in the district semifinal.

The winner Friday moves on to regional semifinal play next Thursday at Bucyrus at 5pm.
