Lady Lex Distance Runners Prep For Regionals

The Lady Lex track team is prepping for the regional finals this weekend which will be run on their home track led by their middle distance and distance runners who brought home three first place finishes, two seconds and a fourth.

The 4X800 team of Mackenna Curtis-Collins, Lillian Freundlich, Abby Miller and Dominique Clairmonte took first in the Division II district meet at Oak Harbor last week in 9:44.8. 1,600 meter runner Dominique Clairmonte was first in 5:07.3, which was a new meet record. Curtis-Collins was second in 5:25.4 and Freundlich was a winner in the 3,200 in 11:31.8 with teammate Susan Fain second in 11:55. Also qualifying for the regional was 800 meter runner Abby Miller who was fourth in 2:24.8.

Lady Lex also qualified 300 meter hurdler Chloe Moncayo, pole vaulter Sarah Oliver, Breanne Stichler in the high jump and the 4x200 meter relay team of Olivia Sterry, Abby Kaple, Caitlyn Haas and Maacha Finley. The running finals are set to begin at 12:30pm at Lexington on Saturday.  On Thursday the 4x800 team of Curtis-Collins, Freundlich, Miller and Clairmonte qualified for state next week at Jesse Ownens Memorial Stadium by winning the 4x800 relay in a time of 9:40.5.  All four runners will try to qualify in their individual events on Saturday at Lexington.
