Jackson Throws His Way To Columbus

Some athletes at times can be described as a work in progress by their coaches, and so it is with Clear Fork junior shot and discus thrower Eric Jackson who has almost come out of nowhere to the point where his throws have improved by feet not inches. Jackson began the year throwing right around 48 feet, now he is throwing the shot over 56 feet and the disc, something he says he is not very good at, over 150'.

Jackson has been able to qualify for state competition in both events finishing in the top four at regionals in the discus throw at 152'6" and as runner-up in the shot at 56'9.5". His coach Dave Carroll believes Jackson could hit 60' in the shot put and over 160' maybe 170' in the discus throw. With the state track and field finals set for this weekend at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. Jackson will compete in the prelims and finals of the shot put in Columbus at 9:30am Friday morning, while on Saturday the discus throw will begin at 9am.
