President Barack Obama begins his Middle East trip with a stop in Israel Wednesday. He's expected to meet with Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu. This visit comes as troubling reports surface about neighboring Syria. Ed Payne has the story.   This visit is President Obama's first to the region since his inauguration in 2009. It comes at a critical time, as some U.S. lawmakers sa that Syria may have crossed a line. "I have a high probability to believe that chemical weapons were used. We need that final verification. But given everything we know over the last year and a half, I, Mike Rogers, Chairman of the Intelligence Committee, would come to the conclusion that they are either positioned for use, and ready to do that, or in fact have been used." The Syrian government blamed rebels for a chemical attack that killed at least 25 people and woulded hundreds in Aleppo Tuesday. But rebels blame the government. The Syrian crisis is an expected topic of coversation with Israeli, Palestinian, and Jordanian leaders ths week. The White House says it is carefully investigting the reports of chemical warfare. "The president was clear that if Assad and those under his command made the mistake of using chemical weapons or failed to meet their obligations to secure them then there will be consequences and they will be held accountable," said White House Press Secretary Jay Carney. President Obama meets with President Mahmoud Abbas of the Palestinian Authority on Thursday. On Friday he will meet with King Abdullah of Jordan.
