MANSFIELD, OH - Mansfield Christian School held its annual Walk-a-Thon Wednesday, with 500 students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grades participating in the long-standing tradition for the private school.

Pre-kindergarten students just walked around the school on Logan Road, but older students took a longer walk.

They walked 3.1 miles through the Ranchwood neighborhood.

The Walk-a-Thon is a fundraiser for Mansfield Christian.

Each student sends at least thirty letters to family, friends, and neighbors explaining the school's need for donations, and it raises about $30,000 each year.

Superintendent Dr. Cy Smith says the money will be used for several capital improvement projects.

Culligan of Mansfield donates bottled water every year for thirsty walkers as they take a break at the halfway point of the walk at Burton Park.
