A water main break caused a large sinkhole to form on Park Avenue West at the bridge over the B-and-O bike trail west of Trimble Road.

Two westbound lanes are closed as crews work repair the break and the sinkhole.

Workers at the scene expected to have the water main repaired by the end of the day Friday.

Ohio Department of Transportation officials say the hole likely will take a week to repair.

Mansfield Mayor Tim Theaker says the bridge remains structurally sound and safe for traffic.

He says crews will work around the clock to repair the damage.

The cost is not yet known.
