GALION,OH.--A new summertime attraction for children is open in East Park in Galion.

The grand opening was held Friday for Galion Splash Park.

It's described as an aquatic playground that contains interactive water features for children up to age twelve.

The splash park replaces the East Park swimming pool that closed fifteen years ago, leaving Galion with only one pool.

And Galion City Councilwoman Shirley Clark, who was instrumental in creating the splash park, says it will be a great addition to that side of town.

The Egbert Freese Foundation contributed nearly $245,000 in grants, while the city of Galion paid $140,000 to build the splash park and restroom building.

The total project cost was $410,000.
