One Dead After Flat-Bed Trailer Overturns In Ashland

JACKSON TOWNSHIP, OH - Troopers from the Ashland Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating an accidental death that occurred in Jackson Township. 

The incident occurred Thursday at approximately 5:03 PM at State Route 89 near County Road 620. The incident resulted in the death of an Amish man.

A horse-drawn flat-bed trailer, operated by Meno L. Yoder, age 51 of Polk, Ohio, was traveling southbound on State Route 89. The trailer was hauling a large stack of flat lumber. The horse-drawn trailer went off of the right side of the roadway and overturned. The lumber became dislodged from the trailer, and Yoder was ejected. 

Yoder suffered fatal injuries as a result of the incident. 

The Ashland County Sheriff's Office and Polk Fire & EMS assisted at the scene. Yoder was not wearing a restraining device, and drugs and alcohol are not suspected to be contributing factors. 

The incident remains under investigation.
