MANSFIELD, OH - Local letter carriers participated in the 26th annual nationwide 'Stamp Out Hunger' food drive Saturday, bringing in 11,000 pounds of food from Mansfield alone.

Bob Diehl, president of the National Association of Letter Carriers here in Mansfield says the 11,000 pounds is up about 2,000 from last years total.

Stamp Out Hunger is the largest one-day food drive in the nation with carriers all over the country participating and asking their customers to leave canned goods and nonperishables in their mailboxes to be donated.

The food will be sorted and then sent to Catholic Charities and the Salvation Army for use in the community.
